Where your chosen chemical manufacturer is located affects your business in huge ways.
For one, a strategically located partner can save you serious money. It can also help you get your products to market faster, offer you more peace of mind for your shipments, and add value through industry expertise that results in high-quality products.
Seatex is proud to claim all of these abilities, and savvy companies are benefiting from them every day.
Seatex is a one-stop shop chemical blending and packaging company with over five decades in operation.
In addition to producing chemical formulations to your specifications, allowing you to pick from our own library of formulations for your private labeling use, or helping you develop new chemistries from the ground up, you can have confidence the result will exceed expectations. Standard SOPs, rigorous QA/QC protocols, broad logistics support, and customer-oriented service ensure a successful product launch.
To top it off, both of our locations offer unbeatable proximity to…

Experts in Shipping
From explosives to flammables, poisonous compounds to radioactive substances, whatever you need to move, Seatex gets it there safely and by the book so that you meet your legal obligations as the shipper. We can provide HAZMAT-ready packaging, contract with our trusted transportation contacts on your behalf, and more.
When we refer to our business as a “one-stop shop,” we mean that you won’t have to go anywhere else to get your chemical product from square one to your customer’s hands.
We can handle labeling for your private-label products; packaging (including HAZMAT packaging) in a wide variety of sizes and containers (bottles, totes, drums, etc.); warehousing with all necessary climate controls and security; and shipping through your chosen method and carrier or using one of our trusted partners.
Whether your business opts to transport raw materials and finished products via tanker truck, railroad, ship, or plane, Seatex’s home city and state of Houston and Texas, respectively, offer the widest range of transportation options in the nation.
Texas boasts more miles of public roadways (over 314,600 miles), state highways, airports (over 380), freight railways (over 10,500 miles), and Foreign Trade Zones (33) than any other state.
This incredible amount of infrastructure is only slated to improve with major investment continuing to be committed, prompting Site Selection Magazine to name the state #1 on its Global Groundwork Index of growth opportunities.
Of course, natural geographic blessings help, as well. The Gulf Coast in Texas contains five of the United States’ top 20 ports by total tonnage, with Port Houston weighing in at #1.
Together, resins & plastics and chemicals & minerals make up nearly two-thirds of all containerized export commodities from Port Houston. Port of Corpus Christi, which along with Port Freeport makes three ports within a two-hour drive of Seatex, ranks #4 nationally in total tonnage.
Port |
National Rank | Total Tons (millions) |
---|---|---|
Houston, TX | 1 | 275.9 |
Corpus Christi, TX | 3 | 150.8 |
Beaumont, TX | 8 | 70.6 |
Port Arthur, TX | 15 | 41.2 |
Freeport, TX | 16 | 38.7 |
Seatex’s rail spurs at our Rosenberg and El Campo locations allow us to take advantage of all the available rail in the area. Houston is one of the country’s top markets for intermodal traffic, and two Class I railroads–Union Pacific and BNSF–operate intermodal facilities at the Port of Houston.
This variety of options translates into ultimate reliability and flexibility to pivot to other methods during bad weather or other adverse events. And of course, intermodal transportation is well-known as a way to lower fuel costs, increase capacity, and safety, and ship more sustainably and eco-efficiently.
Seatex’s mailing address may be Rosenberg, but for all intents and purposes it’s headquartered in Southwest Houston. And the Bayou City single-handedly makes the United States the chemical manufacturing powerhouse that it is.
The sector’s explosive growth was the natural result of the presence of so much oil and gas enterprise, and support industries for chemical production are abundant.
Houston benefits from several factors that help attract top chemical engineers to jobs at places like Seatex.
Three Texas colleges–Rice University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Texas at Austin–rank in the top 20 with their chemical engineering programs.
Graduates of these programs settle in Houston in huge numbers thanks to the city’s proximity to these campuses, its third-lowest cost of living among the most populous U.S. metro areas, and the 25+ percent higher average wages for chemical manufacturing jobs compared with the rest of the country.
Harris County–which encompasses most of Greater Houston–supports nearly 25,000 chemical manufacturing jobs, by far the most in Texas (over three times as many as the runner-up).
As of 2017, there are nearly 3,000 registered facilities that house chemicals in Harris County.
Houston also enjoys a business-friendly environment inside the Lone Star State, whose vast reserves of oil and gas also make for local supply of raw materials for area refineries and chemical plants.
